Grave in Fremont Co., Iowa.
Sarah Ann Farley married
1)"Ashbin Van Skyhowk and Sarah Ann Farley 9 Jan 1845." Holt Co., MO. Holt Co. and Atchinson Co., MO became later Fremont Co., IA. The last name of Van Scyoc has been creatively spelled on more than one occasion. This man was an early pioneer and military figure in Iowa history. In 1850 they are found in Fremont Co., IA, by 1860 he is most probably dead and she had remarried;
2)A. Fletcher
Her life:
Sarah Ann Farley was the daughter of Thomas & Margaret Ferguson FARLEY (son of Henry Farley).
She had a brother named Jackson.
Sarah died in Fremont Co., IA as Sarah Fletcher (name of her 2nd husband Abraham Fletcher; #1 was, it is believed Ashbel Van Scyoc b. 1808 VA. and d. ca 1859 in IA).
Her children were:
Margaret Van Scyoc SHIRLEY
Franklin Van Scyoc (md a Lucinda A. OAKLEY)
Jackson Van Scyoc
Thomas Benton Van Scyoc (md a CLAPPER)
Almira Van Scyoc BECKWITH
Note on research: I found Franklin in Fremont Co. IA in 1850. The census listed the family as "A.V. Schyhock", aged 42, b. 1807 VA; wife Sarah A. b. in the 1820;s VA and a daughter named Margaret and a son Franklin.
Some event occurs from 1850-1860, death, desertion, etc. Later I find Margaret in the home of another family ; this family has connections to the family of Cornelius Van Scyoc b. 1783 who had children Ruth (MUSTARD),Elizabeth (KEELER), Lorenzo, Mary Ann, Benjamin, Sra, "A.". Van Scyoc, MUSTARD and Keelers are all in the same region of Iowa ca 1880, so it may be assumed that they are all related since Margaret it with them.
This circumstantial fact the children were placed in a family with connections to another Van Scyoc lines may support a familial connection between "A" and the Cornelius line.
