Shown here with his mother Velma Cochren Priest. His father was Melvin Marion Priest. The setting is thought to be Kansas where the family had gone on a visit but could also be in Barry Co., Missouri where the family was living.Melvin would grow up to become a professional welder (doing high rise work), a professional motorcycle racer (winning over 200 trophies), and taught himself to paint. He designed a unique jack element for trailers and manufactured them himself for a time before he sold the design to another company.
