The social historian in me has to wonder which Effie Hudson was more proud of in this image: her eldest son or the new record player? Seriously, this is an excellent illustration of the growth of a middle class during the 1910 to 1930 time span (evidenced by the plethora of craftsman homes and such things as better clothes, and record players). As a family that had moved to Oklmulgee, Oklahoma in 1917 in a wagon, lived in a tent for a year or two and stuggled to make it as a teamster hauling equipment and cables for the forest and oil work - this shows great strides in the family fortunes.
